2017 proved once and for all that there’s always room for quality doom as Worship Metal counts down the 10 greatest doom metal albums of 2017.
Crushing metal superiority awaits!
10. Egypt – Cracks And Lines
Cracks and Lines was the third full-length release from Egypt – North Dakota’s foremost doomers – and this power trio were evidently in prime form!
Continuing their recent trend of quality over quantity, Cracks and Lines, like 2015’s Endless Flight, clocked in at under 40 minutes but didn’t sacrifice a single minute to anything approaching filler. In fact, Egypt’s fine blend of stoner and doom had been honed to something damn close to perfection!
Big, fat riffs continually evolved into new big, fat riffs as guitarist Neal Stein added to his nuanced arsenal of signature sounds as Cracks and Lines delivered everything from stoner rock to psychedelic jam’s and thunderous doom metal!
