2. 2015: The Year Of Thrash
Thrash Metal is awesome. That’s just a fact.
Why Thrash’s popularity nosedived in the 90’s is anyones guess (nobody mention Grunge) but since 2004 we have been treated to a resurgence that shows no signs of stopping and with some of the big guns of Thrash set to drop new material and some surprising reunions confirmed, 2015 is shaping up to be the year of Thrash!
As far as new material is concerned, the likes of Megadeth, Anthrax, Testament, Slayer, Kreator, Sodom, Havok, Anihilated, D.R.I, Flotsam & Jetsam and (don’t hold your breath) Metallica are all set to release new albums.
Some big names have also reformed; brace yourselves for the return of Dark Angel, Nuclear Assault, Coroner, Xentrix, Toxik, Exciter (original line-up) and Acid Reign….many of these bands were considered dead and buried so it’s truly astounding to think that they will be back touring and hopefully recording new material. Happy thrashin’ days indeed.
We guarantee you’re all gonna be Thrashin’ like it’s 1986 all over again!
I totally agree and have been predicting the rise and return of thrash for a year or two now. That is why we will have a stack of old and new thrash bands playing this year. Keep rockin’ love the site.

It is a really humbling moment for us in Mammothfest to be recoginised along with such other great festivals in 2015. Our energy towards the UK metal scene is massive – http://www.mammothmetalfestival.co.uk/community – so its not just about our main event but embracing the underground which, is our future while also bringing some kick ass bands to Brighton like the mighty ONSLAUGHT. A personal dream come true to be hosting them at one of my events. Honestly, this thread made our day but this is just the start, we have massive plans.

WorshipMetal is a site dedicated to spreading the word on new bands, old bands, forgotten bands and everything else in between. As you say, the underground is equally as important as established bands and it was clear that Mammothfest was a festival that embraced both! Onslaught are the Kings of UK Thrash (alongside Anihilated & Virus of course) and I don’t think you could ask for a better headliner…a better live band you’d be hard pressed to find.
