12 Of The Funniest Songs In Metal!
Amusing? Frickin' hilarious more like!
System Of A Down – Bounce
Taken from the album Toxicity (2001)
Who writes a song about a pogo stick? System Of A Down that’s who!
As a rule of thumb, System Of A Down tentatively walked a tightrope between the political and the absurd and “Bounce” unsurprisingly falls firmly in the latter category. Regaling the simple tale of a bloke who went out on a date and bought his pogo stick “just to show her a trick” – as you do – System Of A Down proved once and for all that they were the kings of the nonsensical and the unpredictable.
Our only issue? We can’t help but wonder if the poor pogo-ing chap would’ve been more successful if he’d taken his Space Hopper along and showed her his dong? Or, erected a trampoline just to show her he’s keen.
We’ll leave it there.
Evil Scarecrow – Crabulon
Taken from the album Galactic Hunt (2014)
Evil Scarecrow may be the most ridiculously entertaining live band on the planet right now and their back catalogue positively bristles with the finest parody Metal songs known to man, robot and crab.
“Crabulon” just happens to be our favourite and its tale of genetically engineered killer cyborg crabs is the funniest song about genetically engineered killer cyborg crabs we’ve ever heard! It also f*ckin’ ROCKS, which helps. These guys are building quite a reputation, and parody or otherwise ,their playing outclasses the majority of their peers. Killer songs, killer image, killer dance moves and killer f*cking crabs!
Scuttle left….scuttle right…..ATTACK!
Got funnier? Stick it in the comments!
You forgot psychostick! dogs like socks or blue screen
Damn! Good Call Phillip!
AC’s Picnic Of Love is from the album Picnic Of Love, not It Just Gets Worse… and the whole album is hilarious!
Nice spot Ben! We were originally going to go with a choice title from ‘It Just Gets Worse’ and forgot to change it when we opted for ‘Picnic Of Love’ instead…..and you’re right, the whole of ‘Picnic Of Love’ is frickin’ hilarious! \m/
I really really love Hello kitty from woods of trees. They are so good!!!!
Just watched the video….brilliant!!!
May I respectfully draw your attention to Jaldaboath’s “Bash The Bishop”, “Roland The Farter” and “Dex The Whispering Dwarf”? While I’m here, there’s also Conquest Of Steel’s “Fisting In The Name Of Metal”.
You may Carl, and I thank you for it.
Spazztic Blurr came to mind when I read the title of the article. Maybe their song “Mexacalli,” all about eating fast food? Then the Macabre Minstrels covering “Found a Peanut”…and of course Gwar for a little “Slaughterama”!
