Haunting – Sealed Shut – Demo Re-Release Review

Open the casket!

Tremolo-riffing exponents of rough as nails, old-school death metal, Atlanta’s Haunting may have breathed all but briefly (2013-2016) but with Sealed Shut they released a top quality demo which promised great things!

Four tracks, clocking in at a mere eleven minutes, indicate the mindset of Haunting. With relentless pace, uncompromising blasting and barked vocals (which seriously require some sort of lozenge to repair those tattered chords), these guys were channeling the filthy rock n’ roll of Motörhead, the frenetic speed of Slayer and the ferocity of hardcore punk to deliver a down and dirty death metal experience with numerous influences and no time for fucking around!

Short, sweet and especially savage, Sealed Shut remains an energised slab of prime death metal from a band whose members are still plying their particularly nasty trade via the thrash of Sadistic Ritual and via death-dealers, Living Decay. 7/10

Originally self-released by the band in a small run of cassettes in 2014, Boris Records now presents Sealed Shut for the first time on vinyl, with an added intro track that never made it onto the original tape release.

Sealed Shut will be available from 8th May 2018 via Boris Records.

HAUNTING:
David Prae – Drums
Scott Taysom – Vocals, Guitar
Charlie Southern – Guitar
Blake Packard – Bass
