In Case You Missed It……Thrashist Regime – Carnival of Monsters
A fuckin’ King Kong of an album, a Godzilla-sized thrash monster.....
In case you missed it is our new regular feature which highlights outstanding albums, from the last 5 years, which may have passed you by.
Who: Thrashist Regime
Album: Carnival of Monsters
When: 2018
Why: When bands bounce back not only from a relatively long sabbatical but with an album that far, far surpasses their previous output it’s a reason to rejoice. And rejoice you will when you hear Thrashist Regime‘s Carnival Of Monsters, as it was a simply sublime slab of thrash from a band who bounced back in a big way!
Sounding like Anthrax one minute, Onslaught the next, there was a crossover edge to their blistering attack as gang vox and lightning-fast riffing indulged every thrash fans wanton whim. Aggressive yet melodic, it’s safe to say Thrashist Regime delivered a stone-cold modern classic in the making; so sharp and focused were Carnival Of Monsters‘ 11 tracks.
Highlights? All of it mate, no kidding!
If pushed, we’d go with the pummelling genius of “Antarcattack” (it’s a song about ants attacking the Arctic for fuck’s sake!), but that’ll change tomorrow….when we spin this fucker again!
First and foremost, Carnival Of Monsters was fun, ferocious and everything a thrash album needs to be.
It was a fuckin’ King Kong of an album, a Godzilla-sized thrash monster, a Frankenstein-esque assembling of thrash metal’s finest moments…..it was a carnival of thrash monsters! 9/10
