Valence – He Tried To Kill Me With A Forklift – Single Review

He tried to kill me with WHAT?!

When a song titled “He Tried To Kill Me With A Forklift” drops in your inbox, how do you possibly ignore it?!

Obviously, we couldn’t and what awaited us was a very widdly, often surprisingly heavy and bordering on abstract blast of instrumental progressive noodling courtesy of Valence….and it’s damn good too!

These critically acclaimed prog metallers have serious chops and if you love a bit of Dream Theater (circa Metropolis Pt 2) and Animals As Leaders then you’re in for a treat as metal, jazz and a fusion of both hit your ears with some seriously beautiful noise.

At its core, “He Tried To Kill Me With A Forklift” is a deft mix of both clean and distorted guitars, metal riffs nestling seductively between mellower passages. We still have no idea what that song title is all about though!

Instrumental’s can often be boring….this is anything but boring. 8/10

“He Tried To Kill Me With A Forklift” will be released on all streaming platforms including Bandcamp, on August 18th 2017.
