Another single from Skreamer, another free download and another bull-dozing statement of intent from a band who continue to impress. Not only with their work ethic but their ability to successfully manoeuvre in a musical landscape intent on making bands jump through hoops for the most meagre of attention….well they have ours!

This time Skreamer adopt even more of Slipknot’s mannerisms only cannily refined, streamlined and defiantly British. Spitting pure vitriol, “The Awakening” finds the boys continuing with their accessible yet sickeningly heavy sound; their uncanny knack of making Nu-Metal sound utterly relevant again proving as irresistible as ever.

Skreamer’s new album is shaping up to be a real challenge to the U.S’s dominance of the arena sound with songs that blatantly have the power to move one individual with the same apparent ease as they could move a cavernous venue filled with 20,000 hardened Metal fans. Big words? Perhaps, but the proof is there. Three singles down – “Pig Feed“, “This Is War” and now “The Awakening” – and the anticipation increases, big things are expected and Skreamer seem primed to deliver! 8/10
