Serpent Lord – Sacrilegium – Single Review
Bow down to the riffs of the Serpent Lord!
Serpent Lord, a new heavy metal band from Greece, have just released their first song from their first demo/promo – set for release at their show with cult heroes Omen in Thessaloniki on May 13th – and it’s a damn fine effort!
“Sacrilegium” has that ‘classic’ sound we all love, a rip-roaring heavy metal thunder that calls forth the power of modern-day Saxon and, most importantly, it’s home to some catchy-as-hell riffing! Simply put, Serpent Lord grab your skull and bang it with an iron fist, not quite reaching speed metal levels of intensity but honing that same chest-pounding feeling.
The almost chanted chorus is a nice touch too, adding some Ghost flourishes to proceedings (and we all know how popular they are at the moment) which fits in with Serpent Lord’s retro/vintage sounds.
The extensive list of trad metal bands to check out has just grown that little bit longer! 7/10
Formed in January 2016 by George Savvage (guitar/vocals), Konstantinos Sotirelis (bass/back vocals) and Giorgos Terzitanos (lead guitar/back vocals), Serpent Lord have finished composing their debut album and pre-production starts this summer. On this evidence, it could be an almighty metal cacophony in the making!
