Left For Red – Utopia – Single Review
Taken from last year’s All Things Known And Buried album, UK metal mash-up maestros Left For Red’s “Utopia” is receiving a single release on March 26th 2016.
Throwing thrash, groove metal and an element of metalcore into the mix, “Utopia” is an impressive statement of intent from a band ever-growing in stature. Opening with a cataclysmic high-speed rhythmic assault, Left For Red’s penchant for fearsome melody is apparent when LC’s unique vocals come crashing in. While his screams are the more effective device, there’s a curiously alluring edge to his high-end wails – interspersed with a more gruff delivery – that makes the melodic moments of “Utopia” particularly epic in fervour.
As adept at heads down thrashing as they are at conjuring uplifting choruses, Left For Red strike a clever balancing act between rousing rhetoric and bruising bellicosity. The result is a relatively short slab of high impact melodic thrash; brash, bold and brimming with confidence and a savvy choice for single release. 8/10
