Hole In The Sky – Corporate Cannibal Congress – EP Review
Clinical Carnage Complete.....
Hole In The Sky kick a chasm back in the ozone layer on new EP, Corporate Cannibal Congress. These guys are a bludgeoning tech death wrecking ball – content to revel in their single minded mission to shatter spines – and the result is an EP that’s catchy but technical and paced with precision throughout.
Featuring some truly absurd song titles that are humorously at odds with the brutal music, the likes of “Gorillas Wear Glasses” hits levels of Decapitated – think “Spheres Of Madness” – style staccato grooves that bring a seemingly effortless punctuality to the revolving door of chuggery(!) while “The Witch’s Ball Bag” – god knows what that’s supposed to mean but it sounds bloody great when inhumanly growled – mulches your nuts in 3 minutes of primal death metal magnificence.
There may be a mechanised approach to Hole In The Sky’s mayhem but Corporate Cannibal Congress never feels robotic, instead this 4 track EP bleeds integrity and bodes well for the future.
Hailing from Brighton – whose metal scene is apparently overflowing with talent – Hole In The Sky are yet another example of the quality emanating from the UK underground; 3 EP’s down and it’s time for a full length album lads….c’mon, we can handle it! 7/10
