Grindpad – Sharkbite – EP Review
It's thrash...now smile you son of a…BITCH!
“SHARKBITE!” is the call as Grindpad’s gang vocals let rip and the attack begins! These Dutch thrashers sure do know their stuff and Sharkbite is a gnashing, slashing old-school riff-fest (with a few death metal moments) that’s guaranteed to get true thrash-heads all sweaty and afraid of the water and stuff.
A rabid mix of Exodus meets Sacred Reich, Grindpad’s new 5 track EP throws you in at the deep end from the get-go and its riptide of brute force riffs and rabid vocals sucks you in with ease. With a violent thrash anthem in their arsenal – the pit igniting ode to thrash that is “The Lion’s Strife” – each and every thrash box is unceremoniously ticked with ruthless efficiency as Grindpad seek and destroy in just 5 easy lessons; “We’re Not Fucking Dead” is a particular highlight with more than a little Municipal Waste creeping in to Grindpad’s sound.
In fact, there’s more than a little crossover happening here but primarily it’s the endless chug first perfected on Exodus’ iconic Bonded By Blood that Grindpad pay homage to the most….and there’s nuthin’ wrong with emulating the best!
Plus, that Ed Repka artwork kicks ass. Fuckin’ sharks man, brilliant! 7/10
