Darkness – Tinkerbell Must Die – Single Review

This ain't no fairytale....

Source // Darkness

Cult German thrashers DARKNESS are finally back with a brand new album entitled The Gasoline Solution – the band’s first full-length-album since 1989 – and “Tinkerbell Must Die” is the first song made available from their forthcoming release!

While these underground thrash heroes from the Ruhr Area are best remembered for their classic thrash slabs Death Squad (1987) and Defenders Of Justice (1988), you’d be a fool to ignore their recent reformation. With last year’s EP XXIX setting the scene, “TinkerBell Must Die” is the next logical step in Darkness’ revival.

An old-school blast of brutal thrash – aided and abetted by that distinctive Teutonic sound – Darkness sound plenty pissed and full of blood-curdling rage (despite the bonkers song title) and their back-to-basics approach is refreshingly robust. Finding a groove and steadfastly sticking to it, Darkness simply thrash you into oblivion and “Tinkerbell Must Die” is a cast iron kick in the nuts beamed in directly from the 80’s.

This is obviously no flash-in-the-pan reformation, these guys sound like they’re making up for lost time in a big way; youthful, recharged and ready to split skulls in the name of classic thrash!  7/10
