Thrash, Death & Doom Metal Legends To Headline Damnation Festival 2017!
Death metal supergroup Bloodbath, German thrash titans Sodom and English doom stalwarts Paradise Lost will close the main stage at this year’s Damnation Festival!
They’ll be joined by US grind outfit, Agoraphobic Nosebleed – making their debut UK appearance – US doom quartet Pallbearer, Norway’s progressive metallers Leprous, and Iceland’s alt-rock group Agent Fresco, at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 4.
The seven stunning additions – bolstering a bill of the previously announced Dying Fetus, Warning and Nordic Giants – marks the biggest announcement in the festival’s 12-year history, following a string of sold out events.
Festival Director, Gavin McInally, expects the 13th Damnation to follow suit.
He said: “A rare and exclusive Bloodbath appearance, headline sets by Sodom and Paradise Lost, finally seeing Agoraphobic Nosebleed in the UK, Warning’s only show here performing ‘Watching from a Distance’, Damnation debuts for Dying Fetus, Pallbearer, Nordic Giants, Leprous and Agent Fresco… This is the most stacked, diverse and exciting line-up we’ve ever put together, with 17 bands still to announce.
“We’re hoping that for the unrivalled value of £40, this year’s festival will sell out again, and in record time.”
Anders Nyström of Bloodbath, said: “We can’t wait to be back in UK to headline this year’s edition of Damnation Festival. Time to make it heavier, faster, sicker and more brutal!”
Paradise Lost frontman Nick Holmes added; “As one of the UK’s premier metal festivals, Damnation captures the true spirit of underground extreme music and it’s a privilege to play there once again.”
Einar of Leprous commented: “I’ve been familiar with Damnation fest for several years, and it always looked like a festival we’d like to play. Interesting line up with a lots of variation every year. One of those festivals where you also want to check out the shows of many of the other bands”
And Agent Fresco’s Arnor Dan, said: “”We’ve done some pretty fun shows in Leeds in the past and can’t wait to return later this year to perform at Damnation!”
Damnation Festival is also proud to welcome Tone MGMT on board as the exclusive sponsors of the event’s fourth stage.
Unfortunately, new touring commitments in the US have led to Gatecreeper being forced to pull out of the festival this year.
