Myth Of A Life – Erinyes – EP Review
For Fans Of The Haunted, At The Gates & Carcass

As with most Melodic Death Metal, the Gothenburg scene is an obvious touchstone and while Myth Of A Life may be furrowing paths well trodden the groove, commitment and intensity contained within Erinyes is obvious to hear.
From the gargling glass vocals of Phil ‘Core’ to the incessant pace, riff after scathing riff pulls you along on a vigilante quest of cathartic retribution. Themes of vengeance run through each and every track with the brutal “Scourged And Crucified” spitting blood through broken teeth and “Erinyes” and “Pull The Trigger” maintaining the judge, jury and executioner atmosphere.
Saving the best for last, the simply titled “Murder” could sit comfortably on The Haunted’s opinion dividing Made Me Do It (we happen to love it). With blistering leads and a truly soaring melodic solo à la Arch Enemy’s Michael Amott, “Murder” is anything but murder to listen to and bodes extremely well for the full length album that is surely in the works?!
All in all, Erinyes is a Death/Thrash machine; bulldozing its way through its lean 16 minute running time and leaving a trail of blood and bone in its wake. 7/10
