Corpsia – Order From Chaos – EP Review
For fans of Sacrifice, Possessed & Sepultura
After a fairly inconsequential “Intro”, Brazilian Thrashers Corpsia launch straight into some faithfully exhilarating Thrash in the form of “Warfield”, a charming and satisfyingly heavy mid-paced stomp reminiscent of the groove the mighty Sepultura often channeled on their early classics Schizophrenia and Beneath The Remains.
“Hail” begins like a “Mad Butcher” infused Teutonic Thrash-off before again settling into the kind of mid-paced groove that Deliverance and Sacrifice excelled at in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Slowing things right down towards the end with some intense atmospherics, “Hail” is a three-part Thrasher that should capture the attention of even the most jaded Thrash fan.
“Warfield” ties up any loose ends with more chugging riffs and rock-solid thrashing and completes a particularly impressive package of raw, fairly primitive and yet seriously infectious Thrash Metal. This South American trio are certainly one’s to keep an eye on, Order From Chaos proving particularly effective and even coming across like a modern-day Possessed circa the Death/Thrash of Beyond The Gates. Blatantly, this is just the start of great things to come. 7/10
