5 Established Bands/Artists Who Embraced Nu-Metal!

If it ain't broke.....don't nu-metal it!

Sepultura – Roots (1996)

The leap from some of the finest thrash albums in the genre’s history (Beneath The Remains / Arise) to Roots didn’t just take many Sep fans by surprise, it destroyed their faith in the band forever!

Ironically, Roots was the album that fleetingly made Sepultura the biggest band on the planet but ditching the thrash riffs in favour of slower tempos, and Ross Robinson produced Korn-esque downtuning, was sacrilege in the eyes of the faithful.

Sepultura’s world music maelstrom remains a love it or hate it affair and the band – with or without Max Cavalera, who departed after the release of Roots – would never sound this ‘nu-metal’ again.

About Chris Jennings (1976 Articles)
I love metal. Always have. Always will. As editor of Worship Metal - a site dedicated to being as positive about metal and its myriad of sub-genres as possible - my aim is to 'worship' metal through honest reviews, current news and a wide variety of features; offering the same exposure to underground bands as we do to mainstream/well known acts. Our mantra; the bands are partners and we exist to serve the bands \m/
