Vectis – No Mercy For The Weak – EP Review

Mercy....is for the weak!

Teenage blackened thrashers Vectis made quite the splash with their 2019 demo, The Executioner. Now expanded to a quartet, Vectis have further finessed their sound with a swift ‘n’ suitably savage EP, aptly titled No Mercy for the Weak…..and no quarter is indeed given with Vectis ripping and shredding their way through 5 tracks of 80’s aping speed metal fury!

With Kreator, Destruction, Whiplash and Celtic Frost forming the core of their influences, Vectis may be in awe of their heroes but they’re not mere plagiarists either, with the likes of “Satanic Force” and “Mark Of The Chainsaw” offering lightning-speed riffs and all manner of traditional thrills via their own distinct template.

Wild and unconfined, Vectis are clearly a young band enamoured with spikes, bullet belts, bad hair and beer and it’s that particular youthful vigour which makes them such an unfettered joy to listen to.

So, crush a can against your skull and turn this fucker up to ear-splitting levels……after all, there’s no mercy for the weak! 7/10

Vectis’ No Mercy For The Weak was released via Helldprod on 20th March 2020.
