Slayer – Repentless – Single Review

Repentless and Unrelentless

Source // metalsucks.net

At long last! A Slayer song from their forthcoming album – and first without the sorely missed Jeff Hanneman – that actually sounds like fucking Slayer! Bringing to mind furious Kerry King penned Thrashers such as “Dittohead”, “New Faith” and “Snuff”, “Repentless” may be Slayer playing safe and to their strengths but at least it’s a massive improvement on the highly divisive and pretty dull “When The Stillness Comes“.

The lyrics may be a little one-dimensional but you get the sense Slayer don’t give a shit if you think they should still be together without Dave Lombardo and the aforementioned Jeff Hanneman. This is Slayer in 2015 and “Repentless” considerably raises previously low expectations for the album of the same name due in September.

Love ’em or hate ’em, they’re back and “Repentless” is a short, sharp shock of relentless Thrash \m/ 7/10
