Ross The Boss – Born Of Fire – Album Review

Meet the new boss.....same as the old boss (and that's a good thing)!

80’s metal icon Ross The Muthafuckin’ Boss is back with another collection of rip-roaring anthems for the faithful masses and Born Of Fire is as incendiary and entertaining as you’d expect!

Obviously a busy fella, the boss-man could be forgiven for resting on his laurels and riding the full-time Manowar nostalgia circuit but it’s satisfying to see him still putting out new material; material which shreds like shit. These are old-school metal songs – informed by a modern metal polish – but traditional through and through and with Marc Lopes screaming, howling and roaring his way through 12 tracks of pure metal, the fire does indeed burn bright.

With the bounce of “Fight the Fight” proving more infectious than Covid-19 (too soon?) and “Godkiller” sounding as epic and heavy as its title would suggest, it should come as no surprise that this album finds the band performing at 100% capacity throughout.

Highly melodic yet surprisingly brutal, Ross The Boss is as potent as ever and Born Of Fire will light a spark in the heart of every die-hard metal fan. You can’t ask for more than that, can you!  7/10

ROSS THE BOSS’ Born Of Fire was released on 6th March via AFM Records.
