Rancorous – Into The Nuclear Fire – Demo Review

Savage ripping death/thrash from the edge of the abyss!

Rancorous describe themselves as “savage ripping death/thrash from the edge of the abyss” and their debut demo, Into The Nuclear Fire, delivers exactly that! With more than a little crust and blackened thrash influences dictating the play, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled across some mid-80’s Sodom or Sacrilege EP.

With hyper-speed blasts of pure, rancorous (sic) filth, blasting your ear-drums into the netherworld, Into The Nuclear Fire is manna from heaven for those who revel in the seedier side of death/thrash. It is, of course, gloriously lo-fi and that’s to be expected, it is a demo, after all.

Let’s face it, when you’ve a gruff sounding lad bellowing “Into the nuclear fiiirrreee” in your face, you’re either gonna greet him with open arms or run to the hills….regardless of the quality of the production! Fortunately, we love a little raw as fuck death/thrash round these parts, and Rancorous have delivered a suitably solid blast of old-school thrash to tantalise our blackened tastebuds.

Into The Nuclear Fire is as ferocious as they come and, as debut demo’s go, this is strong stuff! 7/10
