Praying Mantis – Fight For Your Honour – Single Review

Praying Mantis were always on the melodic end of the NWOBHM spectrum but new release, “Fight For Your Honour” (taken from their forthcoming 10th album Legacy) is an unabashed homage to the classic sounds of 80’s stadium-sized songwriting; all solid brass balls and a colossal chorus that fully ignites that Rock and Metal fire that burns in all of us.

Bordering on Power Metal – think Halloween at their most bombastic – “Fight For Your Honour” is a fist-pumping, unite-us-all anthem that demands to be played in front of tens of thousands of screaming true Metal lovin’ fans! Whether that sort of audience is open to Praying Mantis’ brand of AOR-focused Classic Rock/Metal in 2015 is in the lap of the gods but on this evidence it’s clear that Praying Mantis are re-establishing themselves as a considerable force to be reckoned with. 

The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (not exactly new anymore but the current resurgence is astonishing) goes from strength to strength!  8/10
