Junk – Double Soundtrack – EP Review

Music to make movies to!

Dallas, Texas rock trio JUNK – fronted by actor Billy Blair (Machete, Machete Kills, The Last Stand, Jonah Hex, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For) – are back with their new EP, the fairly self-explanatory Double Soundtrack.

Home to 4 new tracks, “Like Lightning” (a Southern-styled freak-out straight from the 70’s) and “Built to Last” (an up-tempo Danzig-esque bluesy number) are both included on the soundtrack to the film Blood Sombrero, while “Pop Rock Genocide” (the EP’s highlight) and “The Sasquatch” (Junk’s post-grunge moment) will be featured in the upcoming horror/comedy movie, Cherokee Creek.

Unsurprisingly, all 4 songs sting your ears with an endless stream of good time grooves, gut-punching riffs and mainstream-bothering fervour. This shit rocks from start to finish and while there’s a massive ‘pop’ element we’re talking a sound that’s accessible and popular, the kind of bar-room filling crowd pleasers that are perfect for sinking a beer too…..they’re pretty good for movie soundtracks as well!

Hard rock for the masses…..and the masses will love it! 7/10

Double Soundtrack is out TODAY.
