A New Revenge – The Way – Single Review

We like the way this sounds!

Tim “Ripper” Owens appears to be fronting a million bands at the present (Charred Walls Of the Damned, Spirits Of Fire, Tourniquet, The Three Tremors and more!) and A New Revenge is the ultra-melodic latest in a long line of exemplary metal projects.

Also boasting Ruzy Sarzo (you will know him from such legendary acts such as Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, Dio and Ozzy Osbourne), Keri Kelli (Alice Cooper, Night Ranger) and James Kottak (Scorpions) in their ranks, A New Revenge’s first available track is in debt to the classic ‘popular’ sounds of 80’s metal.

Dialing back (a little) on the Halford screams and fully utilising his fantastic range, The Ripper is gritty when necessary and soars, like a fuckin’ golden eagle, for the remainder of a track which disguises its relative simplicity by being bouncy, energetic and catchy as all hell!

A modern metal act dripping with nostalgia and packing the kind of melodic punch that wouldn’t have felt out of place on an 80’s Europe album, “The Way” is honest to goodness, bold as brass, melodic metal of the highest order…..and there ain’t nuthin’ wrong with that! 7/10
