Scott Weiland, the instantly recognisable frontman behind 90’s grunge heroes Stone Temple Pilots and the supergroup Velvet Revolver’s, has passed away aged 48.

According to reports, Weiland was found dead on his tour bus in Minnesota at around 9 pm on Thursday night, while touring with his current group the Wildabouts.

Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction, Red Hot Chilli Peppers) announced the news last night via a tweet that’s since been deleted, “Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. “So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.”

A man whose drink and drug demons were well known throughout his career, we will remember him as the iconic voice behind such Stone Temple Pilots classics as “Plush” “Creep,”, “Vasoline” and “Interstate Love Song” and for his short but successful stint as frontman for Velvet Revolver.
