Mammothfest 2017 Announces Massive First Headliner!

Source // Mammothfest 2017

Mammothfest 2016 was a resounding success with heavyweight acts such as Textures, Venom Inc and Conan leading the metal assault that resulted in a near complete sell out, and saw the festival nominated for three festivals award nominations, including the UK Festival Awards in two categories, Best Metropolitan and Best Small Festival 2016 as well as the TBFM Best Independent Festival 2016. The festival continues to expand and grow each year and this year will be no exception.

Only one month into 2017 and Mammothfest have already announced the first ‘Mammothfest presents’ show in April, along with redesigning the artwork and concept. Now armed with the ‘metal mammoth’, we are getting straight to what we all want to know…the line-up for this year’s festival!

Here’s the (very) big news…..

FRIDAY 6th OCTOBER 2017

ROTTING CHRIST UK EXCLUSIVE 2017 PERFORMANCE

That’s right, in 2017, the only place you will be able to see Rotting Christ is at Mammothfest 2017!!!!

Mammothfest is extremely proud and excited to announce the first headliner of 2017 is Rotting Christ! Formed by the Tolis Brothers, Sakis (vocals and guitar) and Themis (drums), this Greek extreme metal band have been going since 1987 and are recognised as one of the first black metal bands within their region, earning them a revered status in the European underground metal scene early on, as well as impressively defining the unique signature Greek black metal sound that was especially present in the 1990s.

In their long career, they have released a hefty twelve studio albums, with the latest release, ‘Rituals’ (2016) being widely well received. Despite the fact they have been going for nearly three decades they are still going strong and asserting their dominance. Their name has even caused them controversy across the world, with demonstrations outside of their shows and Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine refusing to share a stage with the band.

Rotting Christ has been busy in 2016 touring worldwide, but in 2017 they are doing only one UK appearance and they have decided that Mammothfest is the place to be. They will be headlining the opening day of the festival on Friday 6th October 2017 on the Black metal stage for a UK exclusive performance!
