Accelerated Evolution was a lean, personal record and one which dealt with the problems of relationships affected by touring and band dynamics stretched to breaking point by internal politics.

At times it feels more like a Hard Rock album with much of the adventurous musicianship pared back in favour of melody and soul-searching; hauntingly romantic in places, on “Storm”, he calls to his wife by name. Regardless, at any point during its running time you are never more than a stone’s throw away from a killer riff as “Traveller” and the exhilarating opener “Depth Charge” will testify.
