Let’s face it, a Corey Taylor-less Slipknot would just be too much to swallow. The days when their masks gave them that sense of fearsome foreboding and anonymity are long gone, the world knows who Slipknot are and that comes at a price.

Expectation of what fans expect from Slipknot has probably never been higher and that’s partly attributable to the sheer force of nature that is Corey Taylor and the persona he has constructed over the years. When these masked ‘monsters’ arrived in 1999 they could have been anybody and it’s possible that bands members could have been replaced without much fanfare. That’s certainly not the case today.

Corey Taylor’s absence would not only be  noticeable it would leave a cavernous void, his reputation and personality now utterly integral to Slipknot’s survival.
